KABA-DC Celebrates the 20th Korean American Day
Today, KABA-DC celebrates Korean American Day, a special day that commemorates the first wave of Korean immigration to the United States in 1903. The first Koreans in the United States were approximately 7,000 workers for pineapple and sugar plantations in Hawaii. From there, the Korean American population grew to approximately 2 million today, producing leaders in government, business, academia and media.
In 2005, the U.S. Senate and House passed resolutions by unanimous consent to designate January 13 as Korean American Day, recognizing the resilience and achievements of generations who have helped shape the nation. As we celebrate this significant milestone, KABA-DC pledges to continue advocating for the recognition and advancement of Korean Americans legal professionals.
